{Inspiration} Three DIYs To Try...

If there were more hours in the day, I would spend them DIY'ing up a storm... Until that happens, however, there's always Pinterest for daydreaming purposes. I scratched the galaxy pendant DIY off my list last night by making one for a friend, which means there might be a lips clutch (an oldie but a goodie!) or spotted shoe project in my near future... But if not, hey one out of three ain't bad either.
What projects are you guys working on? xx

{DIY} Lulu Frost-Inspired Fruit Necklace...

Sometimes I fall in love with pieces that I just can't justify buying (seriously though, $215 for fruit?!), which is why DIY is a girl's best friend. One quick trip to the bead store and less than $15 later, I have a fruit necklace to call my own. It may not be as anatomically correct as the Lulu Frost version (is it me, or are those red corn on the cobs?), but it sure is cute... And now for the DIY!

- 16" of gold chain
- Fruit charms
- Jump rings
- Lobster clasp
- Pliers

Attach the charms to the chain using the jump rings, spacing them evenly across the front of the necklace. Once that's done, attach your lobster clasp and throw on that new necklace of yours... Easy does it.

Thanks for reading, friends! xx

{Wedding Bells} The Inspiration...

Pretty much the minute Mr. AiF proposed back in December, I started pinning wedding inspiration like a crazy person... Fast forward a few months, and not much has changed. Now don't get me wrong, we're nowhere near ready to actually start planning a wedding (we can't even agree on a year!), but since I plan on sharing that journey here with you, I figured I may as well start with the little things.
So with that said, here's a peek at some of my favourite pins, which wonderfully enough actually seem to coordinate. Looks like I may have inadvertently stumbled upon a theme, ladies and gentlemen... Now let's just hope the mister approves.

{DIY} Striped Heels...

The minute I saw these Zara heels, I knew my hoarding ways had finally paid off. That's right my friends, my inability to throw away these ancient Aldo kitten heels facilitated my recreation of these striped beauties. Can you say vindication? Anyway, if you have a pair of old, disposable shoes lying around too, you may just want to try this DIY for yourself... Porque no?
Here's what you have to do:

1. Start by taping stripes across the shoe. I used Scotch tape because the width of the tape worked perfectly for the desired stripe size.
2. Secure the tape firmly under the shoe to ensure no paint seeps under the tape.
3. Continue taping both shoes, taking care to mask any surfaces you do not want painted.
4. Place a tape strip around the heel of your shoe, taking care to make the line as straight as possible.
5/6. Apply a thick, even layer of leather-friendly paint to the surface of your shoe and heel. Reapply as needed.
7. Allow several hours for dry time. I let mine do their thing overnight to make sure there wasn't any funny business.
8. Carefully remove the strips of tape. If you're not gentle during this process you might flake off some of the paint. Go over any imperfections with a black Sharpie (my savior!)
9. Take your new baby's out on the town You've earned it.

Inspiration || Pastels

Now I don't know about you guys, but I've gone completely gaga over pastels this year... And if you don't believe me, just check out my Pinterest account it's literally bursting with the stuff! I'm not really sure what's come over me, but I just want to layer myself in soft, girlie hues while I paint my nails in the candy colours I relished in when I was 12... I guess trends really are cyclical, huh?
Happy Friday, love bugs! xx
