Layers are a non-negotiable this time of year, but there's no reason not to spice them up with a little print-on-print (on-print-on-print) action. For me, that means stripes, plaid, houndstooth AND leopard, but hey, that's just how I roll. And even though it may sound like a seizure-inducing hot mess on paper, the visual is far from it... Or so I like to tell myself.

Remember that trip to the mountains I referenced a couple weeks back? Well these photos were taken at the a lodge we were lucky enough to stay in. The weather was beautiful, the food and drink was plentiful, and we even saw our first fox, who was good enough to strike a pose for us... All in all, it was a good trip. And what's a good trip without proper attire, am I right? This plaid shirt/turtleneck combo screamed 'lodge-wear' to me, and when paired with a preppy blazer, it became the perfect hot-cocoa-by-the-doc, book-reading-by-the-fire look � Oh the power of fashion. xx

{Summer Week} The Sun Dress...

 
Who's ready for another theme week? Since I'm always talking about how I can't wait for fall, I figured I should stop and enjoy summer while I still can, so voila! A new theme week was born. First up, the sun dress. All you need are some stripes, pastels and cute cutout detailing, and you've got yourselves the all the makings of a summertime staple... Too bad this is the first time I've worn this dress since buying it a month ago, but I digress � As is the case with theme weeks, better late than never, right?

{Style} The Long and Shorts Of It...

Sometimes the stars align and the retail gods smile down on you juuuuust long enough to score something you didn't know you wanted � or heck, even needed � until the moment you lay eyes on it. Throw in a mind-blowing sale, and you've got yourself the stuff of miracles.... Or, you know, personal debt. Either way, totally awesome. Which brings me to exhibit A: these mighty fine McQ Alexander McQueen shorts. Not only were they about 80% off at Simons (score!), but they fit and flatter in ways that my other shorts could only dream of... Eat your heart out, denim cut offs! xx

Well, it's official; I survived camping in the bear-ridden back-country (nice initiation, huh?) with only two near car accidents, a minor tent fire (I'm not joking) and half a dozen bug bites... Let's just say it's been quite a weekend. Good thing I don't have to work today, because I really need the extra day to sort out my life (and my back).
